The Alex Theatre has been a Glendale landmark since 1925. Originally a neighborhood Vaudeville house and movie palace, today the venue serves as a world class performing arts and entertainment center.
The Alex Theatre wanted a new look for their event posters. This series used the name as part of a headline expression. For this event, I wanted to change the visual perception of what dance looked like. I started off with the smaller versions of the dancers, but it didn't have the impact I desired. The original photography wasn't crisp enough to blow up large and I wanted go big with a single dancer. I manipulated the image in Photoshop to be more abstact. This solution worked out. The client used the last two concepts.
